There are two different verbs in Georgian for expressing "I have," depending

on whether you're referring to an object or a living being. For example, the verb is different in these two sentences: "I have a dog" and "I have a book."
Let’s learn how to say "I have" when referring to objects.
1. I have- მე მაქვს
Pronunciation: me makvs
Meaning: I have (something)
You can use this expression when you want to say that you possess or own an object.
Example:მე მაქვს წიგნი
Pronunciation: me makvs tsigni
Meaning: I have a book
2. You have- შენ გაქვს
Pronunciation: shen gakvs
Meaning: You have (singular, informal)
To conjugate the verb for the second person singular, we change the first part of the verb to შენ გაქვს(shen gakvs), which means "you have." This is a casual expression used with friends, family, and in informal settings.
Example:შენ გაქვს ბარათი
Pronunciation: shen gakvs barati
Meaning: You have a card
3. You have -თქვენ გაქვთ
Pronunciation: tkven gakvt
Meaning: You have (plural or formal)
This is the second person plural form and can be used when addressing more than one person or when speaking politely or formally to someone.
Example:თქვენ გაქვთ სახლი
Pronunciation: tkven gakvt sakhli
Meaning: You have a house (polite/formal)
4. Asking Questions
When politely asking someone if they have something, you can use the following structure:
Example:ბარათი გაქვთ?
Pronunciation: barati gakvt?
Meaning: Do you have a card?
Although the subject თქვენ (tkven) is implied, it can be omitted because the verb form already indicates the subject. To make it sound like a question, place emphasis on the verb.
5. Negative Sentences
To say you don’t have something in Georgian, add the negative particle არ (ar) in front of the verb.
Example:მე არ მაქვს ბარათი
Pronunciation: me ar makvs barati
Meaning: I don’t have a card
