'I am sorry' in Georgian

Let’s learn how to apologise and say “I am sorry” and “Excuse me” in Georgian.

1. ბოდიშით

Meaning: I am sorry

Pronunciation: bodishit

This phrase is used when you want to apologise to someone for something. For example, if you are late for a meeting at work and want to apologise, you can use this phrase, possibly along with others.

In more casual situations, especially with friends, you can use the same phrase without the final “თ” (t) consonant — ბოდიში (bodishi).

2. უკაცრავად

Meaning: Excuse me

Pronunciation: ukatsravad

This phrase can be used when you want to get someone’s attention politely — for example, calling a staff member in a restaurant to place an order, or when you accidentally step on someone’s foot or bump into someone in the street.

For example, if you want to call a waiter to order food, you can say:

  • „უკაცრავად, შეკვეთა მინდა“

Pronunciation: ukatsravad, shekveta minda

Meaning: “Excuse me, I would like to order.”
